About the event
Have you ever wanted to try your hand at the pottery wheel? The Beginner Mug class is for you! Catherine, our resident pottery expert, will show you the basics with a practice piece of clay. Once you're familiar with the process, you'll make your very own mug (with hands on help from the instructor if needed). After the piece is dried a bit, you'll learn how to apply an ombre effect with underglaze and then attach a handle. You'll leave your masterpiece with us to then be fired, dipped in clear glaze, and fired again. This process takes a while, so we'll call you when they're finished (approx. 2-4 weeks). Your finished product will be dishwasher (top rack) and microwave safe! This class is ages 10 and up, all materials are provided.
If you have long fingernails or nail extentions, we recommend trimming them shorter for the class. Nails that extend past the fingertip can be a hinderance in the wheel throwing process. For safety reasons, you will be asked to remove all rings, bracelets, and long necklaces during the class. We are not responsible for any lost items (so you may want to leave the bling at home). If you have long hair, you will be ased to tie it back.
